Joseph Weston Hlavinka

Joseph Hlavinka by Alexanders Portraits

A quick learner and curious boy, even as a toddler Joseph Weston Hlavinka would cry when sad classical music came on the radio. At age five, Joseph began to play piano under Ms. Lali Elbakidze and really fell in love with the music. Only a few years later he also began to learn to play the violin, cello, and most recently guitar. Of his own initiative Joseph auditioned for the St. John’s Boychoir and begged to join the Houston Children’s Chorus, and the ACDA Honor Choir that he sang with in Chicago last year.

Joseph has performed with the St. John’s Singers, St. John’s School Boychoir, ACDA Honor Choir in Chicago, and Houston Children’s Chorus. He also had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at an Astros game with St. John’s School, West University Little League 9U All-Star ceremony, and the Southwest Football League Challenger game.

Joseph has also performed in the St. John’s School productions of Show Me the Candy, The Rockslinger and His Greatest Hit, Let’s Hear it for the Heroes, It’s A No Show, and as Joseph in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. Joseph Weston Hlavinka is a 6th grade student at St. John’s School.

Joseph Weston Hlavinka will perform with ROCO as Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors, a ROCO production in collaboration with St. John the Divine, on the Epiphany, January 6, 2012.
