How did you get started? I started playing the piano in grade school.

What do you do when you’re not playing with ROCO? I'm an assistant professor of music at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi.
What are you listening to on your iPod? Lately, Ben Folds Five and Tenacious D.
What did you do this summer? I taught college-aged musicians at a music festival in Hot Springs Arkansas. Then I taught music to grade-school kids at a day-camp at Rice University. Then I flew to Hong Kong to perform with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. The rest of my summer is strictly leisure and practicing, except for when I return home to Illinois to attend my 20th high school reunion.
Personal info: Single but dating the harpist of the San Antonio Symphony.
Question you're asked most often: Of all the instruments I play as a percusisonist, which is my favorite? Answer: Sometimes I sneak out of answering by saying that the nice thing about being a percussionist is that I don't have to choose a favorite. But really, it changes. Lately, the snare drum.
Interests outside music: Movies, books, and making music with my friends.
