How did you get started? I started at age 3, shortly after I was mesmerized by Itzhak Perlman and Telly playing a violin/tuba duet on Sesame Street.
What do you do when you’re not playing with ROCO? Assistant Concertmaster of the Louisville Orchestra.
What are you listening to on your iPod? My iPod died recently. :( And that's the face it gives me now. But if I had one, I would be listening to Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and Chris Rock's standup.
Personal info: One cat, named Boobie.
Question you're asked most often: Where are you from/what is your nationality? Answer:100% Taiwanese-American, and proud to be born and raised in Texas.

Bio: Maxine Kuo, Grand Prize winner of the Kingsville International Competition, recently began her orchestral career as Assistant Concertmaster of the Louisville Orchestra, under the baton of Jorge Mester. Also a passionate chamber musician, she strongly believes in expanding the classical music audience, and does so by performing unique programs in unconventional venues with bass quintet Sybarite5, and with the progressive and widely successful River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. A six-time full scholarship recipient at the Aspen Music Festival and School, Ms. Kuo has held the concertmaster position of both their Sinfonia and Academy of Conducting Orchestras. Maxine received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Cho-Liang Lin and Naoko Tanaka. She served as teaching assistant to Ms. Tanaka at Juilliard and in Aspen, and dreams of starting an arts & wellness school one day.
