How did you get started? At six years old, in a Suzuki group class.

How long have you performed with ROCO? From the start!
What do you do when you’re not playing with ROCO? Teaching privately and part-time at the University of Colorado, playing chamber music.
What did you do this summer? This summer I was back down in Houston to teach at the U of H's Texas Music Festival, gave a class at the National Suzuki Conference in Minneapolis, and played at the Colorado Music Festival here in Boulder. I also watched our twins go from crawling to walking, very exciting!
Personal info: Married to ROCO flutist Christina, two boys, two cats.
Interests outside music: Masters swimming, reading, Red Sox.

Bio: Matthew Dane is a member of the Boulder Piano Quartet, serves as Principal Violist of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra in Houston, and is on the faculty at the University of Colorado. Chamber
music festival appearances include OK Mozart, Portland (Maine), Chamber Music Quad Cities (Iowa), Ruby Mountains (Nevada), and Tanglewood. With the BPQ and Jon Manasse he has recorded quintets of Lowell Liebermann for Koch. In summers Dane performs in the Colorado Music Festival and teaches at the Texas Music Festival. Past teaching appointments include the University of Oklahoma and Metro State College of Denver. His Doctoral Document, which examines the teaching influence of Karen Tuttle, enjoys wide circulation among amateur and professional violists nationwide. Dane has served the viola community as Editor of the Journal of the American Viola Society and as a Viola Society Board member at both the local and national levels.
